With The Beatles

We were pleased to host a special evening with ATC Loudspeakers on February 7th, presenting the new 2018 remixes of The White Album completed by ATC client, Giles Martin at Abbey Road Studios.

Following the Sergeant Peppers Anniversary Remix from last year, this project started with the original multi-track analogue tapes which were transferred to a digital audio workstation where the new mixes were created, a completely different process from the previous remasters, where the engineers were limited to only working with the existing mono or stereo mixes. As well as Giles Martin completing the re-mix work using ATC products, an ATC system was also used when the album was first showcased to the press back in September 2018, at BBC Maida Vale Studios. ATC’s involvement in both the Professional audio industry and the domestic Hi-Fi market allows the home listener to experience music just as the artist or producer intended. Of course, purists will say that the limitations of the studio technology at the time of the original Beatles recordings are all part of The Beatles sound and they do have a point. Nonetheless, the new remixes sonically revealed complex and shapely layers of textures and The Beatles true creative and musical intelligence of 50 years ago. It was remarkable to experience this re-mix recording.

We enjoyed listening with this reference system:

Be Our Playlist Guest….

We first thought about hosting guest playlist evenings at the house around two years ago, as an alternative to product evenings and launches.

We thought about creating a monthly music evening with a difference.

We thought about inviting clients to present, play, share and discuss personal favourite tracks.

We thought about creating a relaxed and informal atmosphere for around a dozen or so guests to discover and enjoy new and familiar music with one of our demonstration music systems.

March 14th 2019 from 8pm: Playlist Guest Neil Hallworth

We are delighted to welcome playlist guest, Neil Hallworth – one of our first clients, and who we first suggested the idea, after listening to some of the varied and interesting selection of music on Neil’s playlist during one of his visits to the house. Neil has been listening to music for over 40 years, with T-Rex’s “Solid Gold, Easy Action” being his first single purchase.  His musical appreciation has changed considerably over that time, and we’ll hear a sample of across a number of music genres tonight. Neil grew up listening to his parent’s hi-fi system but his real hi-fi journey began with the ubiquitous NAD 3020, a Thorens TD160 and a pair of the original Mission 700s. Linn has featured heavily in Neil’s systems over a 20 year period.

Currently Neil runs an Akurate Exakt Katalyst system with PMC speakers, for which he has developed his own Exakt filters. Neil is active on a number of hifi forums and writes the occasional, informal, entry on his own and very informative audio blog audiophilemusings.co.uk blog.

More recently, Neil has worked on delivering speaker measurements for SPACE Optimisation that allows speakers to be added to Linn’s compatibility list – including some of those in the brianandtrevors portfolio.

Neil has started developing Exakt filters for speakers not supported by Linn and has received training from Linn’s lead acoustic designer. He has a very tolerant family!

Call or email us to Listen to Neil’s playlist on March 14th.

If you want to guest-present your playlist at one of our future evenings, please let us know.

Throughout 2019 we will be hosting regular music events.

Let us know if you would like to get involved.

We look forward to seeing you in 2019!

Best regards,

Brian and Trevor
