Naim DAC

World Class sound. Naim Audio, based in Salisbury, England, have been producing the world's finest CD players, amplifiers, loudspeakers, network players and all-in-one systems since 1973.

Since the birth of the CDS in 1991, Naim continue to demonstrate their capacity to make the finest sounding digital players possible.

This development programme culminated in products such as the CD555 and the NDS streamer, both of which are commonly accepted as examples of the greatest digital players ever made. The technology used in the development of the CD555 and the NDS Network Player filtered down throughout the entire Naim range giving users the ability to upgrade through high quality products to reach the level of performance they expect, at a budget they can afford.

Both the DAC and DAV-V1 take the application of that performance a step further.

Why Naim?

Every Naim product is conceived, designed and engineered entirely in service of the sound, revealing a pure experience of music that is as close as possible to its original live source.

Naim believe that the exploration of sound is an adventure that rewards you with a clarity and connection that becomes more powerful the deeper you travel within it. Which is why, every element within each Naim component is crafted to create a silence around the sound, reducing any interference between you and the intention of the artist.

Naim achieve this through tireless attention to four fundamentals in their engineering:

Space

Naim design and build to give each of the critical components their own environment, omitting outside or ‘toxic’ interference, which means no compromise on the purity of sound.

Circuitry

Naim expertise in cuircuit board layout minimises any interplay between the internal levels, so that you can simultaneously enjoy both the quiet and the loud, as originally intended.

Purposeful materiality

Naim only use materials that excel in performance, not just appearance.

Technology

Naim constantly strive for new and innovative ways to achieve their goals, integrating sophisticated electronic design and software development, with mechanical engineering and acoustics to deliver a truly advanced sonic experience.

By managing the relationship between these four pillars of engineering, Naim's listeners can hear every single note in equal measure and transcend from audio sound to musical performance. Naim call this unique and emotive transmission the ‘Voice of Naim’; it’s their signature, their calling card.

This ‘voice’ has been carefully engineered across the product portfolio and crafted to take you the listener deeper through this journey into music, from the excellent entry-level Mu-so wireless range, through to the ultimate listening investment in Naim's ‘Marque’ separates - Classic, 500 and Statement, their flagship amplification system.

Let the voice of Naim take you inside the music… Go Deeper.

Naim DAC

Capable of partnering and upgrading a wide range of Naim Audio products, the DAC has more in common with Naim CD players than with any conventional DAC.

Its Burr-Brown converter chips, for instance, are also found in the flagship CD555 CD player. The DAC overcomes the jitter inherent in standard digital connections by reading data independent of its timing signal. Its digital filtering, based on a 40bit floating-point SHARC DSP chip running unique Naim Audio code, sets new standards in its class. Naim DAC is now DSD compatible and able to play 64 (2.8MHz sample rate) and 128 (5.6MHz sample rate) files; the upgrade required significant optimisation of the core DSP code which has also improved its sound quality.

If the DAC’s music performance is extreme, its flexibility is just as remarkable. With eight S/PDIF and two USB inputs, it’s adaptable to any system configuration and can grow to meet any need.

Naim DAC-V1

Naim's newest DAC is perfectly optimised for modern digital listening. It features an asynchronous USB input – ideal for getting stunning sound quality from your computer.

DAC-V1’s single-ended class-A headphone amplifier affords it added versatility. The output stages of this amplifier are kept as pure as possible, ensuring outstanding sound quality for headphone listening. The DAC-V1 is now DSD compatible and able to play 64 (2.8MHz sample rate) and 128 files (5.6MHz sample rate); the upgrade required significant optimisation of the core DSP code which has also improved sound quality.

The DAC-V1’s compact size makes it perfectly suited as a desktop companion to your Mac or PC, but its exceptional musicality means it will complement standard-width hi-fi components just as well.
